The North Pole BBQ

It’s Christmas in July, so I decided to surprise everyone with a North Pole barbecue picnic! The elves were so excited, they’d never been to a barbecue before. Jingles thought it meant we were barbecuing Christmas trees (we’re not), and Spark brought a shovel, he thought it was for digging ice sausages out of the snow.
We set everything up beautifully: checkered tablecloth, icy lemonade, and a big barbecue grill. But there was one small problem…

It was too cold for the barbecue to light! Every time I tried, the flame went poof! and turned into a puff of snow. The ketchup bottle froze. The tongs stuck to the metal. And the hamburger patties? Let’s just say they became burger ice blocks.
Mrs Claus came to the rescue with her famous warm soup in thermoses, toasted cheese sandwiches cooked on the sled engine, and cocoa that somehow stayed hot no matter how cold it got.

We sat on fluffy blankets, told silly stories, and Jingles used frozen sausages as drumsticks to perform a concert on the cookie tins. (He’s calling it Elf Rock Live!)
Today’s magical thought: Even when things don’t go to plan, they can still turn out just right. With a little imagination and a lot of laughter, any day can be a special one.
